The team at Helicopters Hawkes Bay have years of experience operating in this region so have come to know weeds specific to Hawke's Bay and the best way to target them.
Our ground crew will arrive well before the helicopter’s arrival in 4x4 ute and work with you the farmer to find the best location and water source for loading the helicopter. Once this has been found the ground crew will then call the pilot and give him the all clear to head for your farm and begin spraying. Our ground crew are in constant contact with the helicopter by either telephone or radio.
We use the latest technology including Tracmap online to ensure you get the best results for your dollar spent. Tracmap enables you to map out specific areas of your farm in a no rush environment at your computer. It then gets forwarded on to our GPS screen onboard the helicopter ensuring we accurately target every area you have marked.
We use calibrated flow metres to ensure water rates are accurate and we are doing the best job we can with the newest technology we have available.

Over the years the team at Helicopters Hawkes Bay have developed our own custom built loading system and fertiliser buckets allowing us to quickly and efficiently spread your fertiliser.
The ground crew will arrive in a light 4x4 truck towing our blue loader known as “the dinosaur”. They will find a suitable location according to the wind direction, any wires in the area and where we can get a truck. The truck, having all been organised with your preferred carrier by your pilot, will then reverse into the dinosaur and the fert loads will be weighed out into the dinosaur hopper. Once set up the ground crew radio the helicopter in and spreading can begin.
Our loading system is efficient, and our buckets well-built to minimise downtime loading and maximise the time we spend actually spreading fert. Our fertiliser buckets are built to spread up to 50 metres in one pass making for quick spreading.
Our fertiliser buckets can also be used to spread seeds down to sowing rates of 3kg for crop seeding or over sowing.
Helicopters have traditionally been seen as an expensive way to apply fertiliser but with new technology and modern equipment you may be surprised.
